FCC Expected to Propose Regulation of Internet as Utility

Sources are reporting that Tom Wheeler, the Federal Communications Commission chairman, is widely expected this week to propose regulating Internet service similar to a public utility—a move certain to unleash another round of intense debate and lobbying about how to ensure so-called net neutrality, or an open Internet… The change, the analysts and others say, which has been pushed by President Obama, would give the commission strong legal authority to ensure that no content is blocked and no so-called pay-to-play fast lanes exist—prohibitions that are hallmarks of the net neutrality concept.

The internet is the PSTN of the 21st century. We need it and we need it to work well, and we don’t want to be ripped off by the monopoly internet providers that we are essentially stuck with.

I have two sources for internet where I live, and the lack of competition is obvious.
Internet needs to be regulated. In fact, it should be regulated exactly like other utilities.
