UltraDNS Expands DNS Infrastructure to India

UltraDNS

UltraDNS today announced the extension of its global infrastructure with a node deployment in India. This expansion of the UltraDNS Directory Services Platform significantly enhances the online experience for more than 39 million Internet users in India. The deployment enables improved performance, security and reliability as users access the millions of domains powered by UltraDNS.

UltraDNS is the leading service provider to the gTLD (generic) and the ccTLD (country code) communities and currently powers over 20 TLDs including .uk, ie, and.org. UltraDNS now also supports India's TLD, .in, through its partnership with Afilias, an integrated global provider of domain name registry services.

The Directory Services Platform is authoritative for approximately 20% of the world's Internet domains. The Indian deployment of an UltraDNS node—a self-contained cluster of proprietary servers, systems, and data—improves response times to the Directory Services Platform for the country's Internet users. This investment further supports India's rapid adoption of Internet usage and services.

"India has emerged as a hub of technical innovation and advancement. UltraDNS now enables the Indian Internet community to access a major portion of the Internet including its own country TLD with unmatched speed and reliability," said Ben Petro, president and CEO, UltraDNS. "UltraDNS will continue to expand our Directory Services Platform to meet demand from Internet users globally and from our enterprise and infrastructure customers."

Over the past 12 months, UltraDNS has expanded its global infrastructure with the deployment of nodes in Luxembourg and Johannesburg, South Africa with future deployments planned in Latin America and Asia. In addition to the public network expansion, UltraDNS recently launched the revolutionary DNS Shield TM in partnership with major Internet Service Providers (ISPs) including AOL and Earthlink, providing the highest level of reliability and security to millions of Internet users. These network and security enhancements reaffirm UltraDNS' commitment to enabling global Internet communities.
