NeuStar Integrates Leading DHCP with its Managed Internal DNS Service

NeuStar, Inc., a provider of essential clearinghouse services to the communications and Internet industry, announced today that it has completed the integration of the MetaInfo Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) with its Managed Internal Domain Name Systems (DNS) service. This follows NeuStar's acquisition of the assets of MetaInfo in January of this year.

NeuStar's DHCP is also at the core of the MetaInfo, industry-leading, Secure Addressing Framework Extensions for DHCP (SAFE DHCPTM), an extensive architecture for network access control (NAC). NeuStar will integrate SAFE within its Managed Internal DNS/DHCP Service, providing customers with a cost- effective and easy-to-use method for enforcing security policies.

Whereas most competing DNS/DHCP solutions use the Internet Software Consortium (ISC) open source DHCP and ISC's Berkeley Internet Name Domain (BIND) for DNS, both NeuStar's DHCP, and its Managed Internal DNS Service are proprietary. Consequently, NeuStar's Managed Internal DNS/DHCP Service brings customers new levels of security and flexibility.

"NeuStar continually strives to bring our enterprise customers the most secure and reliable infrastructure to support their business continuity and revenue assurance requirements both inside and outside the firewall," said Ben Petro, senior vice president of NeuStar Ultra Services. "Our new DHCP complements NeuStar's leadership in managed DNS services and will significantly enhance our customers' networking environments. We are particularly excited by the increased flexibility our proprietary DHCP provides, driving new innovations such as SAFE DHCP."

Launched in 2006, NeuStar's Managed Internal DNS/DHCP Service capitalizes on the company's Directory Services Platform, delivering highly secure and massively scalable DNS/DHCP data management, and high-availability Directory Gateway appliances, deployed within the corporate network, providing local resolution for all end user requests. The service enables cost savings and maximizes resource allocation as customers can control both their internal and external environments through a consolidated management interface, thus reducing the need for technical personnel with expertise in multiple platforms.
