Global Industry Leaders Join dotMobi Advisory Group

The dotMobi Advisory Group (MAG) today announced that 10 leading mobile and Internet companies have recently joined the group. MAG - a dotMobi-accredited, independent not-for-profit industry forum - welcomed Go Daddy (USA), Sony (Japan), Carlson Marketing (USA), Instant Access Technologies (UK), Bango (UK), Telecom Italia (Italy), Firstserver (Japan), ooober (Canada), Nubiq (Ireland) and Millennial Media (USA) as group participants. These 10 companies have joined the MAG to advance the development of .mobi domain-based policies, products and commercialisation efforts.

"Go Daddy is committed to delivering best-of-breed domain products and services to our customers," said Tim Ruiz, Vice President for Corporate Development & Policy, Go Daddy. "And that's why we offer dotMobi domain names and services. As a new member to the dotMobi Advisory Group, we are excited about the opportunity to help formulate policies that will ensure dotMobi products and best practices continue to serve the interests of mobile users worldwide."

To serve the interests of the global dotMobi community and mobile Internet consumers through the .mobi domain, the MAG has launched task forces for mobile browsing, mobile email, mobile commerce and mobile advertising. The key mission for MAG Task Forces is to provide members the opportunity to recommend policies, product road maps and commercialisation business models that help advance market development opportunities for .mobi domain-based mobile Internet services.

"As the company behind the .mobi domain, we are pleased to see the dotMobi Advisory Group grow to reflect the worldwide interest in the domain and the quality content being developed behind the 450,000 .mobi domains registered so far," said Neil Edwards, CEO of dotMobi.

Michael J. O'Farrell, Chair and Interim Executive Director of the dotMobi Advisory Group, added, "We welcome our new global members. The mobile Internet economy has been predicted to be one of the largest growth opportunities globally for network operators, content developers and service providers. To date, the forecasted uptake of the mobile web has been limited by poor consumer experiences, erratic content & delivery costs, and no common way to identify what web sites really work best on a mobile phone. With .mobi domains it becomes easy for consumers to find made-for-mobile web sites and for service providers to deliver mobile Internet content cost effectively."

MAG members and executive will host meetings on Tuesday, March 27, 2007, at two events: CTIA Wireless 2007 in Orlando, Florida (http://www.ctiawireless.com) and the ICANN 28th International Public Meeting in Lisbon, Portugal (http://www.icann-lisboa.pt). dotMobi Advisory Group Workshops will provide mobile, IT and media companies with insights into revenue-generating opportunities enabled by .mobi domains.
