dotMobi to Release Highly Desired Names via T.R.A.F.F.I.C. Auction in October

On Friday, October 12, dotMobi will auction a select group of domains at T.R.A.F.F.I.C. EAST 2007 at a live auction hosted by Moniker. The .mobi names scheduled for auction cross a variety of categories, including entertainment, finance, food, government, health, internet and retail.

Among the specific names that will be available during the live and silent auctions are dvd.mobi, cash.mobi, debt.mobi, food.mobi, recipe.mobi, elections.mobi, irs.mobi, diet.mobi, email.mobi, podcast.mobi, poker.mobi, rss.mobi, move.mobi, rap.mobi, face.mobi, who.mobi, buy.mobi, and usedcars.mobi. (Note that the selection of names is subject to change at dotMobi's discretion.)

These names join the 700,000 .mobi domains that have been registered since dotMobi's General Registration commenced one year ago on October 11, 2006.

"Over the past year, Moniker's T.R.A.F.F.I.C. auctions have placed several .mobi domains on the top 20 emerging domain sales list. This shows that the domain industry understands that the future of the internet is mobile," said Trey Harvin, CEO of dotMobi.

Harvin added, "These 45 domains represent some of the most in-demand names from our premium list. And given the mobile content tools like ready.mobi and site.mobi that we've been able to build over the past year - using proceeds from previous auctions - we've added content requirements for the winners. This is to ensure that these names will have sites with relevant, mobile-ready content behind them and will join the five million pages of .mobi content that are already live."

The dotMobi Premium Names list is a compilation of commonly used words and phrases which dotMobi has set aside for equitable allocation as an alternate to the traditional "first come, first serve" procedure. These names will be distributed in batches using both auction and Request for Proposals (RFP) processes.
