goMobi and Google to Help UK Companies Get on the Mobile Web

dotMobi confirmed as mobile website vendor under Google's GetMo initiative to open mobile Web to all UK businesses

Mobile Web pioneer dotMobi today announced that it is a confirmed vendor for Google's GetMo programme. GetMo aims to help UK businesses establish a presence on the mobile Web and, since 2010, dotMobi's goMobi mobile website builder has allowed businesses to create sophisticated mobile websites with an easy-to-use cloud service.

Google is emphasizing the importance of having a mobile site so that companies can capitalize on the growth in mobile traffic. Google reported a 166 percent increase in mobile searches for top retail brands last Christmas in the UK. However, some 79 percent of large UK online advertisers had no mobile site to serve that traffic. Without a mobile site, mobile users will simply go elsewhere. Google's Jason Spero recently said that, with approximately 15 percent of all Web traffic now mobile, not having a mobile site is like closing a website one day a week.

Desktop vs. Mobile Search Volume – An analysis of UK search volumes on desktop versus mobile has found that in November 2011 mobile searches on popular Christmas gifts represented 14.60% of the online total – a jump from 1.83% in 2008 and still growing steadily. We've been in mobile Web since its beginning, so we understand websites need to deliver a local, personal and mobile-specific experience to customers. Mobile is not desktop made smaller. It's a different medium and needs a different approach. We believe goMobi offers the best option to customers."

Currently, goMobi is available to businesses at a 40 percent discount through UK-based Easyspace, with a "try it for free" option. goMobi offers a full range of mobile-specific features for businesses to get on the mobile Web immediately, including click-to-call, m-commerce support, Google maps and directions, social networking and custom analytics. goMobi sites can be created in a matter of minutes and are fully compatible with all devices, including desktop computers, tablets like the iPad and all smartphones.
