Mr. Roger Kim is Vice President of PAIX at Switch and Data, one of the largest carrier neutral data centers. He is responsible for commercial operation and development of PAIX, one of the original and largest commercial Internet exchange.  In this role, Mr. Kim is also responsible for strategic market and business development relationships with key industry partners and customers.  He currently serves on the executive board of Global Peering Forum, which supports all commercial Internet operators throughout the world. 

Mr. Kim’s telecommunications and Internet experience encompasses over 18 years of demonstrated success in developing, marketing, selling, and managing technology services for Fortune 500, government, and start-up companies.  Mr. Kim was previously the Vice President and General Manager of Data on thexchange at Arbinet (NASDAQ:ARBX), the largest global communications trading company, where he was on the management team that steered a private, profitable company to a successful IPO in 2004.  He was responsible for all aspects of data business unit sales, marketing, engineering and operations.  Mr. Kim spearheaded the Data on thexchange platform development and successfully led the acquisition of Band-X Internet in the United Kingdom.

Prior to Arbinet, Mr. Kim was Vice President of Marketing and Product Management at Aleron, Inc., a Goldman Sachs-funded next generation IP network services provider focused on multi-protocol label switching (MPLS).  As a member of the executive team, Aleron acquired Telia Internet Inc. (formerly AGIS – AS4200), a US subsidiary of Telia, a PTT of Sweden, to financially reorganize by reducing debt and operating expenses so that the company was positioned for revenue growth. 

During the early days of international Internet growth, Mr. Kim held executive roles at Teleglobe International and Sprint.  At Teleglobe, Mr. Kim served as the Director of Internet Product Management where he managed the growth from $2M to $320M in annual revenues within four years, which led to acquisition by Bell Canada (NYSE:BCE).  Mr. Kim was instrumental in establishing and growing Teleglobe Internet Services (AS 6453 and AS8279) as one of the top Tier-1 Internet networks in the world with carrier and ISP customers in 115 countries.  At Sprint (NYSE:S), Mr. Kim managed Global SprintLink, the first global Internet service, by establishing Internet services in 20 countries.  At Sprint Business Services Group, Mr. Kim played a key role as a network consultant in designing and winning AOL IP Dial-up network.

Mr. Kim began his career as electronics design engineer with the National Security Agency (NSA), where he developed and deployed classified SIGINT systems during the Operation Desert Storm in Iraq, where he received a letter of appreciation from the Director of NSA.  Mr. Kim holds an MBA degree in marketing from the University of Maryland. He earned his MS and BSEE degrees in electrical engineering and computer science from Johns Hopkins University. He currently holds a US patent on Internet technology.
