New Top-Level Domain Applications Close Today - ARI Registry Services to Support 161 TLDs

New TLD application window concludes after six years of development. ARI Registry Services reveals its outcomes.

ARI Registry Services can today confirm it has signed contracts to provide back-end domain name registry services for 161 new Top-Level Domains (TLD) as part of ICANN’s global program to expand the Internet’s address system.

The application window closed today (at 23:59UTC on 30 May) more than a month late following a technical glitch in the application system which delayed the program in its final stages. At the conclusion of the program, ARI Registry Services had signed 85 generic, 70 brand and 6 geographic TLDs.

Adrian Kinderis, CEO of ARI Registry Services, said the results achieved by ARI are the result of over six years of dedication to the new Top-Level Domain Program.

“When applications opened in January, our target was to secure around 100 TLDs, so to reach 161 has far exceeded our expectations. Our goal was never to become the biggest, but we did want to be the best. I believe the results of our efforts and the caliber of our clients demonstrates that we are well on the way to becoming a force to be reckoned with,” Mr Kinderis said.

He added: “Our numbers are pleasing, but they will become even more significant when the global brands and high profile entrepreneurs we are supporting are made public in a couple of weeks.”

A full analysis of the TLDs ARI Registry Services will be supporting will be released following ICANN’s reveal day, currently scheduled for 13 June 2012.

“Non-disclosure statements restrict me from revealing our full client list at this point in time, but what I can say is that our technology will support some of the world’s largest and most recognised brands within the electronics, media, telecommunications, automotive and banking segments,” Mr Kinderis said.

“Stay tuned for the big reveal day on 13 June when ARI Registry Services plans to make some exciting announcements.”

Following ICANN’s reveal day, the next important milestones for applicants will occur when ICANN announces the batching results and begins the initial evaluation process.
