U.S. republican presidential candidate John McCain has unveiled his technology policy statement. The statement includes candidate's positions on major tech issues such as Net neutrality, patent protection and piracy, broadband availability, and privacy and particularly focuses on increased innovation, intellectual property protection, and preserving technology through market forces.

Chloe Albanesius of PC Magazine reports: "Net neutrality is 'prescriptive regulation' in which McCain does not believe, according to the policy statement. McCain instead supports 'an open marketplace with a variety of consumer choices.' McCain also reiterates his support for increased broadband penetration spearheaded by the telecom industry, but said he would support city-owned systems in areas spurned by private industry."

The democratic presidential candidate, Barack Obama, unveiled his technology policy statement in November of last year.
