Dyn Inc., Opscode and Zenoss Unite for "Game Day" at the O'Reilly Velocity Conference

IT Management Leaders and Enterprise Operation Teams Unite to Conduct Real-Time, Cloud Computing, Disaster Avoidance War Games to Demonstrate Solutions for Managing Scalable and Resilient Enterprise Web Infrastructure

Starting at 7:30pm (PDT) today at the Velocity Web Performance and Operations Conference, the teams from three leading IT infrastructure companies will be coming together to present a real-life/real-time Web failure scenario, that will show session attendees how to manage a highly scalable and redundant enterprise Web environment, using integrated tool chains to avoid disaster without manual intervention. Dynamic Network Services (Dyn Inc.) has provided a reservation system for their DynTini event at Velocity 2010 as a Web application hosted in multiple regions in Amazon's Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), utilizing the Dynect Platform for global server Load Balancing and geo-targeting. IT automation vendor, Opscode and cloud monitoring provider Zenoss, will demonstrate how to use integrated tools to repair and prevent systems failure and maintain service levels even with heavy Web load and traffic.

All three companies are excited to unite for this "Game Day" failure and automated recovery presentation, as it demonstrates the strategies and tools needed to build a scalable and resilient cloud infrastructure. "By collaborating with Opscode and Zenoss we hope to demonstrate the type of configuration and management tools needed to deliver the ideal implementation of cloud computing infrastructure," said Cory von Wallenstein, VP Product Management for Dyn Inc.

"This is the perfect example of DevOps; making service level assurance a design point for cloud infrastructure deployment ensures that failures have a minimal impact on user experience while automation provides the quickest path to full recovery from infrastructure break-downs," added John Willis, VP of Services at Opscode.

Each company also understands the challenges IT and operations staff face trying to maintain the uptime and efficiency of their infrastructure. "In order to be effective and maintain the highest quality of service, integrated tool chains are needed to both detect and take action on systems failure," explained Mark Hinkle, VP of Community at Zenoss. "This exercise should demonstrate the effectiveness of automation in maintaining the integrity of mission-critical systems."

The demonstration will take place at 7:30pm on Wednesday, June 23rd at the O'Reilly Velocity Web Performance and Operations Conference being held at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Napa 3. The demonstration will be directly followed by a DynTini event.
