2008 Marking the 25th Anniversary of TCP/IP

Twenty five years ago, in January 1983, TCP/IP protocols replaced Network Control Program (NCP) as the principal protocol of the ARPANET making the Internet possible as we know it today. Vint Cerf and Robert Kahn have been credited for the invention of the technology and were presented with the Presidential Medal of Freedom on November 9, 2005. As pointed out by Jeff Caruso of Network World, this anniversary "was largely missed by the mainstream press, but Google honored the anniversary on Tuesday with its logo—reproduced here—though you might easily have thought all that confetti was simply for the New Year." In the Jan 5th episode of "All Things Considered", NPR's Andrea Seabrook talks to Vint Cerf about TCP/IP's early development.
