Anyone Who Still Thinks IPv6 Won’t Happen Clearly Isn’t Watching the Measurements

Anyone who still is using the “I’ll-just-wait-on-IPv6-because-it-will-never-happen” approach is clearly NOT watching the measurements. First, there was the news last week that Google’s IPv6 measurement had crossed over 3% less than five months after crossing the 2% mark.

Then today comes word from the World IPv6 Launch measurements program that the February 2014 measurements are up—and once again show continued growth from the networks participating in the program. As my colleague Mat Ford wrote, Belgium’s Telenet entered the measurements this month already showing over 12% IPv6 deployment. In a post to the Deploy360 site, I also noted that Comcast is nearing a measurement of 25% IPv6 deployment, North American wireless operators are showing strong growth with Verizon Wireless at almost 46% IPv6. In Europe operators such as Deutsche Telekom shows 18% IPv6 and France’s Free shows 37% IPv6. Many more results for network operators can be found in the full World IPv6 Launch measurements.

The point of all of this is to say that we’re no longer waiting for some mythical time when IPv6 will be deployed—it’s happening NOW!
