.green Now in General Availability

The DotGreen Community, Inc., in partnership with global domain registry operator Afilias, announced today that .green is now open for General Availability.

After seven years of anticipation, the .green web address is available for the global green economy online and for all to tell their green story, showcase their sustainable products, and easily find products, services and socially responsible companies.

Research shows that 55% of global consumers are willing to pay more for socially responsible products, and green investment is planned to reach $10 trillion by 2020. The new .green namespace provides Internet users with easy access to a worldwide community that’s helping to accelerate the growth of the global green economy already estimated to be in the Trillions.

DotGreen’s mission is to create value for .green domain name owners as a focused community who are a recognized part of the green economy and to create a needed online home for the global green movement. A .green domain is the identifier for today’s global citizens to easily find the products and services they want as well as a new access point or channel for businesses to showcase their green initiatives, products and services.

“Every successful company and organisation knows the importance of social responsibility. .green websites provide an easy way for customers to find the green stories of their favorite brands,” said Annalisa Roger, CEO, DotGreen Community, Inc.

DotGreen has already begun to announce .green leaders in a wide selection of business categories ranging from a socially responsible public relations company, to a patented green cleaning product line sold exclusively at Walmart. Some registrars selling .green web addresses also offer green hosting for a greener Internet.

“The .green domain is a powerful enabler for connecting green organizations with Internet users,” said Roland LaPlante, Chief Marketing Officer of Afilias. “With an entire Internet domain now dedicated to the green movement, its growth can accelerate as it raises its profile online and becomes more accessible.”

The General Availability period opens March 24th at 13:00:00 UTC. Visit www.going.green to purchase your .green name and join the movement.
