.WANG Enters Landrush This Week

This week .wang enters its five-week Landrush period.

As a pinyin, "wang"is the Mandarin pronunciation of a number of Chinese characters, including 王 (means "king") and网 (means "web" or "net"). Many household brands, social media or retail platforms website are pronounced and known to Chinese users as "brand-wang". For example, 淘宝网 is pronounced as"taobao-wang".

"Astute businesses and domain investors recognize the unique "pinyin" feature of our .wang TLD and have been waiting patiently for the Landrush", says Eugene Li, CEO of Zodiac. "History has shown the value of a premium domain name, and now is the opportunity to secure a great .wang domain name."

"ICANN-mandated Sunrise is a challenge for strings that target non-English speaking markets but we are very happy with the results. In particular, we are encouraged by the strong interest and support from a number of key registrars. Partnering with those registrars, we are excited to progress to the Landrush phase as all available .wang domain names will be up for the taking", adds Li.

.wang Landrush will run till 26 June 2014.
