Recent Trends and Options to Mitigate DDoS Attacks (Webcast)

This Monday, December 3, Neustar will hold a webcast to review recent trends in attacks and most popular methods of mitigation. During the 60-minute webcast, recent attacks will be analyzed as well as implications they have had on DDoS mitigation solutions.

Steve Kovsky, Contributing Editor, InformationWeek/TechWeb

Veteran journalist and author Steve Kovsky has covered information technology for nearly 20 years in print, radio, television and online. In addition to his current role as resident tech expert for San Diego 6 TV in San Diego, and CBS/Infinity Broadcasting radio affiliate KFWB (“News 980”) in Los Angeles, Steve is a prolific writer whose body of work has been widely read by both IT professionals and consumers worldwide. Steve recently served as Principal Analyst and Research Leader for Consumer Electronics for the Current Analysis division of NPD Group. Prior to that, Steve served as Vice President and Editorial Director for Centric Events Group, an organizer of technical IT trade shows and conferences across North America. He has also held editorial management positions at CNET Networks/CBS Interactive, ZDNet, ZDTV, Ziff-Davis, Global Sources, and CMP. Steve is the author of two popular technology “how to” books for consumers: “The Absolute Beginner’s Guide to Windows XP Media Center Edition,” (Que, 2004), which was republished in 2005 by Dell Computer, and “High-Tech Toys for Your TV: Secrets of TiVo, Xbox, ReplayTV, UltimateTV and More” (Que 2002).

Jim Pasquale, Manager Security Operations, Neustar, Inc.

Jim leads the 24x7 information security operational and engineering teams charged with protecting Neustar and its clients against those with malicious intent. He oversees tactical and strategic initiatives for the group including technology build-out, solution development, staffing and support processes. Prior to Neustar, Jim was Director, Global Security Operations for Verizon’s Managed Security business. In this capacity, Jim oversaw delivery, support and solutions architecture for cloud to core services utilizing six Security Operations Centers worldwide. He also held senior leadership positions with Visa International and IBM Global Services.

Gary Sockrider, Solutions Architect, Arbor Networks

Gary Sockrider is a Solutions Architect at Arbor Networks. He seeks to understand and convey the constantly evolving threat landscape as well as the techniques and solutions that address them. Gary is an industry veteran with over 20 years of broad technology experience ranging from routing and switching to network security, data center, and collaboration. He has diverse experience in multiple roles including Support, IT, Security SME and Product Management. Gary spent 12 years at Cisco Systems prior to joining Arbor Networks and held previous positions with Avaya and Cable & Wireless.
