New Domain For Japan, .JP.NET, Releases Cream of Domain Names for Registration by March 16, 2012

Those wishing to buy valuable internet real estate in the world's third largest economy, including premium domain names such as tokyo.jp.net, shop.jp.net and kawaii.jp.net, now have a limited-time opportunity to make registration requests through leading global registrars including Onamae by GMO, Domain King, Instra and IP Mirror.

.JP.NET is making the cream of domain names available for registration until March 16 in a Landrush phase that is expected to see the domain-buying public snap up thousands of valuable domains including:

  • place names such as shibuya.jp.net, kyoto.jp.net and japan.jp.net
  • one and two-character domains including go.jp.net and 1.jp.net
  • keywords such as love.jp.net, phones.jp.net and web.jp.net
  • Japanese language domains including 糖質ゼロ.jp.net, ホメオパシー.jp.net and 大阪.jp.net

Ben Crawford, CEO of CentralNic, the Registry Operator for .JP.NET, said: "Following a successful Sunrise phase that saw leading companies worldwide take advantage of this new opportunity to access the first new domain for Japan, we are now excited to extend the offer to the public to secure big-ticket domains that are unobtainable at '.jp', '.net' and '.com'".

Unlike other heavily restricted Japanese domain extensions, domain names ending .JP.NET are available to anyone in unrestricted quantities, giving businesses and individuals everywhere the chance to secure presence in the rapidly growing Japanese internet landscape and gain access to the Japanese market.

The extension's combination of .jp and .net offers the further benefit of global as well as local presence, meaning that unlike any other Japanese domain extension, websites published on .JP.NET domains will be easily located by both local Japanese and global search engines, ensuring unparalleled exposure and traffic potential both for Japanese websites with a global focus and international companies with an interest in the Japanese market.

About .jp.net

.JP.NET is Japan's new domain, bringing together two highly recognised domain extensions, .JP + .NET, to create one powerful online marketing tool that enables corporations, e-commerce sites, blogs, brands, services, social networks, or any other online endeavour to network simultaneously with Japanese and global communities — offering unparalleled online reach. The new domain for Japan offers incredible versatility. JP.NET is available for registration through leading Japanese and international registrars.
