Sedari micro-site invites visitors to guess the final figure of top-level domain name applications ICANN will receive during the 12 January to 12 April 2012 period.Visitors to www.sedari.com/game are invited to make their own guess on the number of top-level domain name applications that will be received by ICANN, as it prepares to open up the domain name space this month.
"Enough of the old year, enough of the old Internet, let's have some new year fun" says Sedari's chief marketing officer Jennie-Marie Larsen at the launch of the Sedari Guess the Numbers Game.
Speculation over just how many top-level domain name applications will be submitted has been rife over the last year. Some have said hundreds, others optimistically have predicted thousands. The Sedari game allows its web visitors to make a one-time guess on the actual number of top-level domain name applications ICANN will receive between 12 January and 12 April 2012. The correct number will be that announced by ICANN after the closure of this round.
Philip Sheppard, Sedari's policy director urges speed: "Hurry, because a little like domain names themselves, there is only one number available for each guess."
Sedari will announce the name of who got it right on 1 May 2012 coincident with the publication of the list by ICANN.
