MarkMonitor to Highlight Importance of Cross-Functional Approach to Brand Protection

MarkMonitor®, the global leader in enterprise brand protection, today announced that its CMO, Frederick Felman, will participate on panels at the 2010 Chief Legal Officer Leadership Forum and the 2010 Chief Marketing Officer Leadership Forum.

Today, companies are charged with simultaneously promoting and defending their brands and intellectual property online, requiring marketing and legal departments to coordinate their activities in order to conduct business effectively online. For in-house legal counsel, a new assortment of intellectual property challenges competes for attention along with more traditional concerns. On May 11, as part of a panel discussion entitled, "Building & Protecting Core Assets - Extracting Value from Intellectual Property" at the Chief Legal Officer Leadership Forum in San Francisco, Felman will discuss controlling intellectual property assets in the global marketplace, what role the Internet plays on the value of intellectual property and the positive and negative effects the Internet poses for brand owners as they work to build and protect their brands.

"Executive interest from both marketing and legal functions demonstrates the cross-functional, strategic nature of a brand protection strategy and underscores the necessity of a holistic approach to building and safeguarding a company's brand online."

On June 2, as part of a panel on leadership at the CMO Leadership Forum in San Francisco, Felman will discuss the efficiency of online marketing and achieving a high return on investment. During the economic slowdown, innovative companies have increased customer loyalty and brand awareness by fostering relationships through new channels such as social media and advances in online marketing techniques. However, CMOs are now challenged with the potential risks accompanying the benefits of online brand prominence. Felman will explore the impact these risks present to brand value and the lifetime value of customers.
