DotConnectAfrica is a non profit and non partisan organization which was incorporated in Mauritius to sponsor, establish and operate a .africa Top Level Domain name registry with global recognition and regional significance dedicated to the needs of the Pan-African and African constituency.
The Mission of DotConnectAfrica
• To sponsor, establish and operate a regional internet namespace with global recognition and regional significance, dedicated to the needs of the Pan-African and African constituency.
• To reinvest surpluses in socio-technological advancement initiatives relevant to the Pan-Africa and African constituency;
• To operate under a viable not-for-profit initiative that is a technically advanced, world-class TLD registry for the Pan-Africa and African constituency
.africa is a unique opportunity for Africa to enter the domain name industry and marketplace by hosting the first gTLD registry on the continent. It's a domain that will go long way in helping bridge the digital between Africa and the rest of the world. A .africa domain will be a mark of identity that you are entering African "territory" on the cyberspace while also showing your Pan African outlook in your businesses, projects or ideas.
Millions of Africans are waiting impatiently to join the "trillion dollar marketplace" that's the internet, and with all the sensible domains having been snapped in the existing gTLDs and with many ccTLDs not fulfilling the market needs of many African internet users, a .africa TLD provides Africans a fresh start to register highly descriptive generic domains to brand their businesses, initiatives, ideas and creativity online and to reach markets beyond their countries thus facilitating intra-African ecommerce.
DotAfrica provides brands, commercial interests, NGOs, inter-governmental organizations an opportunity to express their Pan-African outlook when entering new markets/regions in the continent.
Through .africa , we will achieve a more cohesive and meaningful "african union" on the internet and show millions of Africans the true dividends of coming together and building a unified identity.
Through .africa, DotConnectAfrica seeks to bring global best practices in TLD management and domain registration and use to the African continent, and through this help boost African ccTLDs and jumpstart the DNS industry on the continent.
