RegistryPro, is the exclusive operator of the .Pro Top-Level Domain (TLD) name extension for professionals.
The company is the first registry to require enhanced security through the issuance of digital certificates. Registrants are also required to self-certify their professional status in order to obtain a .Pro domain and digital certificate bundled solution.
RegistryPro was approved by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) in May 2002 to launch the .Pro domain. RegistryPro is owned by Hostway Corporation, a leading provider of web hosting products and services.
The .Pro extension is the first and only domain extension intended exclusively for professionals on the Internet. Using a .Pro domain name as a platform, professionals may obtain additional security features to comply with security and confidentiality obligations (such as attorney-client privilege and doctor-patient confidentiality) and the platform fulfills their need to communicate securely (e.g. for online court, tax and insurance filings) using tools such as encrypted mail.
