Mr. Newman is Founder & Principal of the Ibex Group, an independent firm providing integrated business and legal advice.

His work is focused mainly on advising high-growth multinationals & start-up ventures in technology, telecoms, international economic development, and multi-bottom-line projects.

For more than 20 years, he has been involved in business transactions in 100+ countries, across a full spectrum of cultures, political-economic models, and levels of development. He has structured and negotiated dozens of agreements with corporations, governments, and NGOs worldwide.

Mr. Newman was a member of the original executive team at Equant Network Services (now Orange Business Services), where he served initially as General Counsel. He also served as Group Vice President, International Development, with responsibility for the company’s partnering, new market expansion, and channel sales worldwide.

In prior years, he served as senior legal advisor at SITA (Societe Internationale de Telecommunications Aeronautiques). Previously, he was in private practice with the international law firm of Squire Patton Boggs.

He holds a J.D., with distinction, from the University of Iowa, where he was Associate Editor of the Iowa Law Review. He also holds an M.A. (Pol. Science / Int’l Econ. Dev.) and a liberal arts B.A. from Iowa, in conjunction with Georgetown University, College of William & Mary, and Central College in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico.
